Late K. Chinnakannu Vaidyar (CV), who was the royal family physician of the then Ruler Of Travancore the His Highness Chithirathirunal Maharaja ,was running his dispensary at Karamana ( 2km from the holy shrine –the Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple) since 1917.
Late K. Chinnakannu Vaidyar who was a renowned Balachikitsa Vaidyar (Paediatrician) of Travancore, was well versed in Tamil Arts and Science and was well known for his competence in treating various diseases in both children andadults which were incurable at that time. His Vaidyasala worked basically on the principles of health-care, comfort and cure on charity basis.
His second son was Dr. C. Sankaranarayanan (DIM) physician who entered Govt. Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram by 1959 and retired by 1982. During this entire period he was conducting this Chinnakannu Vaidya Memorial Pharmacy (CVM) pharmacy with the help of other physicians. He was having clinical cum academic experience of 25 years under Govt. of Kerala like his father he was also a prosperous doctor in the feld of Ayurveda.
The firm is still continuing after registering as a charitabe trust in the name “Palazhi Charitable Trust” with the health care centre at Karamana itself run by the third generation S/o Dr. C Sankaranarayanan – ie Dr. C S Kannadas, MBBS, BAMS, MD(AY), retired Professor & HOD Dept. of Shalakyatantra .He is qualifed in both Modern Medicine and Ayurveda and retired after completing 30 years of Govt. Service under State Govt. He is leading the institution with the help of a team of medical personnels. 4th generation Dr. Vishnu Narayan K son of Dr. Kannadas managing as a leading role at our organization. At present this is a multispeciality one covering Ayurveda Paediatrics, Ear-Nose-Throat(ENT), Ayurveda Ophthalmology ,Brain and Spine Disorder and other speciality units. A R&D (Research and Deveopment) division is also coming up under this centre to document ,validate and to incorporate newer technology into traditional ones. This institution is now being registered under the main stream of AYUSH with both inpatient and outpatient facilities and is at present recognized as a centre providing genuine Ayurvedic medicine with no preservatives or additives. A classical and scientifc approach is the aim of the centre aimng at interdisciplinary research and coloborative studies.
